Nigeria is actually a beautiful and interesting place to be contrary to the way some foreigners perceive it. We are blessed with charming and fascinating towns and cities. Most of these cities are amazing destinations that reveal a lot of history that has been preserved through rich traditions over generations. With their beautiful landscapes, breathtaking scenery, and radiant people to boot the cities represent the great potentials that Nigeria holds and exhibits.
Some of these cities are known for either their economic and business advantages, others for their vacation fun spots and tourist attractions, while some others are loved for the fact that they are homely and are ideal for a quiet getaway.
Without further ado, we’ve taken time to research about these cities, been to some as well and have come to the conclusion that indeed they are worth visiting. Check them out:
Abuja: The Federal Capital of Nigeria is definitely on the list as one of the most developed and organized city in Nigeria. In Abuja the ambience is exquisite, from excellent infrastructure, good road networks to the lovely restaurants/hotels among many other interesting places. Although compared to other cities the cost of living is quite expensive, but it’s no surprise since most multinational companies and organizations headquarters are located there. All in all, Abuja is an exciting city to be in with notable sight-seeing attractions that include amusements parks, shopping centres and other numerous delightful activities.
Akwa-Ibom: Is known as the Land of Promise, and surely it lives up to the name. With its well-structured roads, going out wouldn’t be a hassle, especially if you’ve stayed in big cities with lots of traffic you’d enjoy the gentle nature Akwa-Ibom holds. It’s an oil producing state so you can be sure the city is not only rich with that but also rich with remarkable historical sites, cool relaxation centres, beautiful getaway resorts and lots more. Not forgetting that they are friendly, warm and hospitable people. If you ever plan on visiting this city prepare to stay a while or always look forward to going back.
Enugu: Also known as the coal city State because coal was mined there years ago, the city is known for its social activities coupled with its cool ambience. It holds notable destinations like the Akwuke beach which makes for good tourist attraction, the Nike Lake Resort, Awhum waterfall, and a host of other fun places. The road network is very good and living there is stress-free with its bubbly upbeat nightlife.
Lagos: Is one of the populous cities in Nigeria and arguably the largest in Africa. Lagos boasts of major financial and commercial centres filled with industries from all economic sectors. The good thing about Lagos is that it’s a place for all. Whether rich, middle class or poor, it accommodates everyone. It also boasts of good road networks and the nightlife is still busy as day. There are several tall buildings and skyscrapers that add to the city’s beauty. You won’t be bored of places to go or things to do because there are just too many activities starting with the beaches, amusement parks, malls and lots more. Next time you’re planning a visit to Lagos best believe you will need a camera because you’re going to have a fun experience you’d not want to forget in a hurry.
Calabar: Is the perfect destination for vacations or honeymoon or just for relaxations. Filled with exhilarating and interesting tourist centres like the Tinapa resort and Obudu cattle ranch amongst others. The city attracts visitors every year, hosting a street party that can be said to be the biggest in Africa known as Calabar Carnival; you’d witness an array of beautiful, colourful cultural costumes. Calabar is also a clean state known for the rich cultural history they display, and for its indigenous Calabar soup. When next you think of a fun spot, think of Calabar.
Port-Harcourt: Is also one of the most beautiful places you will also want to visit. Port-Harcourt has a lively scenery known for its industrial activities too. It’s also an oil producing state and home to many multinational companies in Nigeria. You’d experience fun activities by visiting spots like Bonny Island, Ifoko beach, the Monument of Jaja, the tourist beach amongst several others. The city is also known for its high standard of living but be rest assured you’d get your money’s worth while visiting.
