A very common feature of Lagos, aside the traffic, is the rain. The weather seldom obeys the dry and wet season rules and like a big billy, no one is safe from her wrath. So we’ve put together 5 tips to help you paddle through the wet weather in Lagos.
- Get protection

Especially if you don’t have a car yet. Mind you, “it’s raining” is not an acceptable excuse in Lagos.
- Change your shoes

My dear, rainboots are not out of fashion. You don’t want to ruin your good shoes anyway, especially if you saved up to buy them.
- Carefully choose your routes.

The only thing worse than a rainy day in Lagos is a car stuck in flood. You will buy a week’s worth of lunch for the ‘area boys’ that will help you push it out.
- Forget waiting it out.

Except where you need to be is not important, take advice 1 and 2 above because Lagos rain can last forever, well, almost.
- Look well before you choose the ground floor.

Please ask whether an area floods before you rent the ground floor or you might have to buy a canoe to paddle around your house.
Bonus tip:
- Use a car that has a roof

Remember we said it was a bonus.
