A very common feature of Lagos, aside the traffic, is the rain. The weather seldom obeys the dry and wet season rules and like a big billy, no one is safe from her wrath. So we’ve put together 5 tips to help you paddle through the wet weather in Lagos.
  1. Get protection

Especially if you don’t have a car yet. Mind you, “it’s raining” is not an acceptable excuse in Lagos.
  1. Change your shoes

My dear, rainboots are not out of fashion. You don’t want to ruin your good shoes anyway, especially if you saved up to buy them.
  1. Carefully choose your routes.
The only thing worse than a rainy day in Lagos is a car stuck in flood. You will buy a week’s worth of lunch for the ‘area boys’ that will help you push it out.
  1. Forget waiting it out.

Except where you need to be is not important, take advice 1 and 2 above because Lagos rain can last forever, well, almost.
  1. Look well before you choose the ground floor.

Please ask whether an area floods before you rent the ground floor or you might have to buy a canoe to paddle around your house. Bonus tip:
  1. Use a car that has a roof
