Victor Osimhen
Victor Osimhen made his first competitive debut for the Super Eagles against Tunisia in their third place match at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt. After Odion Ighalo’s retirement from the international fold, Osimhen stepped up to fill his spot as Nigeria’s number 9. Osimhen has equally been impressive for his French club Lille OSC, and wrapped up his 2019 international appearances for Nigeria with 3 goals in the first two 2021 AFCON qualifiers matches for the Super Eagles.
Osimhen’s first goal for the Nigerian senior squad came in an international friendly against Ukraine on September 10, 2019. It will be recalled that Osimhen was highest goal scorer at the 2015 FIFA U17 World Cup, which Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets won. He has been likened to Rashidi Yekini (Nigeria’s highest goal scorer) by the media, a proof of his outstanding qualities. Nigerians can place their bet on Osimhen to inspire the Super Eagles into qualifying for the 2021 AFCON when qualifiers recommence in 2020.
