Everyone knows that LinkedIn is a social networking site for professionals and job seekers, but it is still ignored by majority of job seekers. Increasing your chances of getting a job using a site like LinkedIn is fairly easy; get a profile, fill it out, indicate you are looking for employment, join relevant groups and introduce yourself, then follow leaders in your chosen industry.
Get a LinkedIn Profile
If you haven’t already, you should get a profile on LinkedIn. It is free, unless you want to upgrade to the premium account. For job seekers with low budgets, a free account is good to start with. Fill out your profile to the maximum. Include previous education, past work experience, voluntary work, and contact details. Connect with people you know and ask them for endorsements.
Indicate That You Are Job Hunting
Sounds pretty obvious, but most people fill out their LinkedIn profiles and just leave it that way. No work will magically appear except you ask for it, and a prospective employer that views your profile will only contact you if he sees that you are looking for a new position. So state in clear English that you are interested in new employment.
Join Groups
LinkedIn groups bring people in the same industry together. Find groups in your industry, join, introduce yourself and be active in the comments section. You can also scout the jobs section of your group for openings.
Follow Thought Leaders
So you want a career in the aviation industry? Follow Richard Branson for example. Read his articles and give intelligent contributions. Get noticed by people who matter in your industry.

Hello,
I’m desperately looking for a job. It’s killing to not to have one. I have a B.Arts(Second Class Upper) in English and Literature, University of Benin and I’m particularly interested in media related jobs or anything related to that (I did a basic presentation course at National Broadcast Academy, Bond FM, Ikeja). Someone please help.
