Anxiety is a feeling of tension or nervousness over certain things. Sometimes it may be due to stress or uncertainty of what lies ahead. It could be termed a form of “extreme worry’’ as well.
We all feel anxious from time to time over various things; it maybe family, personal, and career or studies, and this happens to people of all ages, old and young.
Here are a few tips that can may help manage anxiety successfully:
- Think positive: Focus your mind on beautiful things, exciting things and things that will make you feel on top of the world. Imagining the best things happening around you, dreaming and wishing for the best things are some of the ways to keep your mind of worries.
- Get enough sleep, eat well and exercise: To handle the challenges of life that come on a daily basis it is imperative to get enough rest to give you that strength and energy you need to stand up to those challenges. This will also help your mind and body to feel peaceful. You should eat good portion of fruits and vegetables, eat more protein and whole grain meal than carbohydrate on a daily basis and try to avoid sugar and caffeine. Exercise regularly to send oxygen to every cell of your body and brain as this helps to keep the body and mind in the right balance.
- Connect with others: You need to associate more with friends and family and spend more quality time with them. Spending time with loved ones and those we are close to helps us to deepen our bonds, letting us feel secure and supported. Having fun with friends and family makes us feel happier, less angry about the things happening in and around us. Spending time with loved ones is the best time to share your worries and concerns because they will definitely listen to you and they are in the right position to understand how you feel and give you necessary tips and advice on how to overcome anything you are anxious about, since they are likely to have been in similar situations or had similar experiences in the past.
