It is well known for its cultural significance to certain tribes – Igbos particularly – and as a key ingredient of a highly loved dish. When next you’re in the mood for a tasty delicacy, whip up a pot of flavourful garden egg sauce and serve with some boiled yam, rice or plantain. Apart from what it does to our tastebuds, there are also many health benefits of garden eggs that should not be understimated. Here are some insights from a Vanguard Newspaper investigation conducted in 2014. 1. Weight loss: Nutritionists recommend it as a perfect food option for those interested in losing weight because of its high fibre content. Lowers blood sugar level: It is a a great dietary option for diabetic patients because of its ability to reduce glucose absorption in the body and lower blood sugar levels. It also possesses low soluble carbohydrates which assist in this regard.   What other benefits of garden eggs do you know of?
