With the Nigerian Presidential and National Assembly elections fast approaching, youth and music authority, MTV Base is using its influence to motivate Nigerian youths to go into polling booths and make their votes count, come February 14.
To engage with the youth electorate, MTV Base (DSTV channel 322) is running its special editorial campaign “Choose or Lose” which encourages young people to go out and vote for candidates they believe will make the greatest impact in the development of the country and their futures.
The campaign, which rolls out on TV, digital and social media platforms, features celebrities as well as members of the public as they underline the important message of youth participation in the electoral process.
Some of the notable personalities that have already lent their voice to the campaign include: Ben Murray-Bruce, 2Face Idibia, Banky W, Ebuka, Sound Sultan, MTV Shuga star Emmanuel Ikubese, Davido, Falz, Reminisce, Emma Nyra, Solid Star, Oreka, Omalicha and Yemi Alade.
Alex Okosi, Senior Vice President & Managing Director, Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Africa commented, “The future of Nigeria will be determined by the viability of the structures and policies that the government puts in place to support her youth, to ensure that they can realize their full potential.
“It is critical that Nigerian youth, who make up the majority of the population, turn out in full force to cast their vote for the candidate they believe is best to lead Nigeria to greater heights,” he said in a statement signed by his media handlers.
