Nigeria who has won the tournament on three occasions are seeded in Pot 1 alongside hosts, Cameroon, 2004 winners, Tunisia, Morocco, 2019 AFCON winners, Algeria, and the highest-ranking African football nation, the Teranga Lions of Senegal. It will be recalled that Nigeria finished the qualifying phase on a bright note, emerging as the leader of Group L which also had the likes of Benin Republic, Lesotho, and Sierra Leone. Led by German tactician, Gernot Rohr, Nigeria emerged third in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt after being eliminated by eventual winners, Algeria, in the semi-final. Gernot Rohr and his charges will be hoping to improve on their last outing and possibly win the trophy which was last won by a late Stephen Keshi managed Super Eagles side in South Africa, 2013.
