  The Confederation of African Football, CAF, has selected Kenyan referee and doctor, Peter Kamaku, as the centre referee for the 2022 AFCON qualifier match between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and Sierra Leone. The game which is scheduled to hold on November 13, 2020, at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin, will see Doctor Peter Kamaku, a pure mathematics lecturer at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) officiate a game involving the Super Eagles for the first time in his career as a professional referee.

38-year-old Kamaku will be assisted by Gilbert Kipkoech Cheruiyot (Assistant Referee 1) and Tony Mudanyi Kidiya (Assistant Referee 2), while Anthony Juma Ogwayo settles for the fourth match official spot. It will be recalled that Kamaku was among the list of 27 referees which were selected by CAF to officiate the 2019 AFCON in Egypt. Solomon Gebresilassie of Ethiopia will serve as the match commissioner for the matchday 3 clash in Benin, while Niger Republic’s Attama Ibrahim Boureima has been selected as the referee’s assessor.

Nigeria will confront Sierra Leone in a two-legged encounter which might likely see the Eagles book their spot for the 2022 AFCON if they win both matches. After the first leg in Benin on November 13, the three-time African champions will fly to Freetown for the second leg of the match four days later on November 17, 2020.
