The German tactician believes it is important for his players to get the job of booking a ticket to the AFCON done early enough in order to fully focus on the busy World Cup qualifiers scheduled for next year. Nigeria is likely to seal a ticket to Cameroun if they win both games which will leave them with four wins out of four (12pts), or at least win one and draw one. Gernot Rohr also noted that the three-time African champions do not underrate the Leone Stars and are focused on the task ahead.
‘We want to win both games so we can have the ticket and be able to be little more relaxed for the final games. You know that next year, we also have the World Cup qualifiers to focus on. It is better to get the Africa Cup of Nations job behind us now. I am excited by the spirit of the players and their sense of dedication and commitment. We have not played a competitive match in a year, but they look very ready and good to go. Our mission is six points in these two matches.’ Gernot Rohr
