Do A Comprehensive Research
Before you relocate, visit the city you are moving to. Scout out the house you would like to stay in. Research trusted realtors in that city and look for one to assist you in your search. Stay in a
hotel or apartment within the area of interest. So you have time to survey the neighbourhood and determine if it is right for you. Also, research moving companies both in your city and in the city you intend to move to. In Nigeria, we have lots of logistics companies that can be helpful. Like CRN Corporate Relocations, Quick Move, AGS Movers, We Move and Packmyload. Just choose the one that has excellent reviews for efficiency and reliability. Get quotations from at least four moving companies. And be wary of movers who give quotations without specifics on the weight of objects you are moving.

Choose How You Want To Move
Moving interstate for relocation can be expensive. You need to decide what your budget is for the move and which option is cheaper for you. You could enlist the services of professional movers, or you can
Do-It-Yourself (DIY). With professional movers, you pay and they help you package and move all your stuff in their vehicle. After which they will take it to your destination. In DIY, you may get to hire a truck or car to carry some of your belongings. Then sell off the bulky items to reduce the properties you are travelling with. Or you can decide to move your items bit by bit if the cities are not too far apart. You can move everything within a one-month period with multiple trips if need be. No one said you need to move all you own in one day or trip. If you have freight trains in your city that run interstate, you might use them as well to move your belongings into one cargo.

Pack Strategically
Of course, you can’t leave the packing to strangers. No matter the option you choose to transport your properties, you will still need to be involved in the packing. Make sure you have boxes, bubble wrap rolls, and packing tape. Pack electronics in one box. Pack toiletries and sanitary items in separate boxes from Kitchen supplies/wares. Pack essentials last and non-essentials first. Donate any replaceable item, to reduce the load. Keep a box with all the essentials and important documents close to you when you eventually travel. This way, when you finally move, if there is any delay in the rest of your properties’ arrival, you won’t get stranded. Label the boxes so the movers know how to handle them with care. Hire people, like gatemen or artisans down your street, who know you to help load your properties into the vehicle. It will reduce the chances of you physically breaking down after the move.

Leave Your Home in Tip-Top Shape
The tendency to focus too much on the new location and ignore the old is high. It is important to sort things out before travelling. You need to make sure the house you are leaving behind is in a pleasant state. Hire deep cleaners to come and clean up after packing all your items into the moving van. Repaint and repair broken-down facilities before leaving the house behind. That way, it is in good condition for the next set of homeowners who will inhabit it.
