Today, Tuesday, 28th January 2020, Connect Nigeria Business Fair 2020 was unveiled to a host of attendees — the press, representatives of companies and others. Some of the sponsors in attendance included Mr Odia Omasade of AITEO, Mr Walter Bossman from Allianz Insurance, and Mrs Abiola Ibile of Ibile Oil and Gas Corporation (IOGC). The event was held at The Reserve Restaurant, Victoria Island, Lagos.

This year’s event is themed 2020 Vision and will hold at the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos from March 6th – 7th, 2020. 8am- 5pm daily.

According to Mr Emeka Okafor, MD of Connect Nigeria,

“For businesses to grow to the next level, they need to know what to do holistically…and use the information they gather from the Business Fair. The BizFair is like a two days MBA crash course.”

The press asked several questions about the Business Fair and some were directed to some of the partnering firms. Mr Bossman, responding to a question on why Allianz Insurance decided to partner on a larger scale with Connect Nigeria for the Business Fair, answered thus: 

“We could see the potential in there. We are interested in finding solutions and helping businesses grow. We were at the event in 2019 but on a smaller scale…Allianz Insurance has a big focus on the SME sector.”

According to Mr Omasade of Aiteo, the foremost and indigenous oil and gas firm have been partners from the onset of the fair in 2011 as a means of supporting SMEs. He stated that this is “to encourage the next generation of businessmen [and businesswomen] who will like to run the next ‘Aiteo’.”

In response to one of the questions on what new the 2020 edition of the Business Fair is introducing, Mr Okafor responded that among others is the Hackathon for startups in partnership with Founders Institute.

Connect Nigeria Business Fair is the largest SME event in Africa and is set to host thousands of SMEs from all over Nigeria. This year’s event marks the 8th edition of the Business Fair with the aim of helping business owners and SMEs scale their output.

The event has several important sections including Conference, Masterclasses, Exhibition, Club Connect,  and opportunities for networking. The event will feature high achieving Speakers with experience as business owners, managers and mentors in the field of business with a goal of sharing 21st century ideas as well as their experiences in owning and running businesses.
