The Super Falcons Head Coach, Thomas Dennerby, has said the team will work very hard to best the tough challenges they will face in next year’s World Cup. The Falcons were drawn alongside tournament host, France, Norway and Korea Republic in Group A of the 24-team competition on Saturday evening, at the La Seine Musicale on the River Seine in Paris, France. The Falcons have their work cut out for them as they will start off their World Cup campaign against Norway in Reims on June 8, before they face Korea Republic in Grenoble on June 12. Their last group game will be a rematch they have been waiting for — against tournament host, France in Rennes on June 17. Dennerby is assured that the team can pull through the group stage if they focus on training and “take it one match at a time”.

“The French team is, of course, world-class, and I know we would have to fight very hard against them.The Koreans are very technical and have pace, but we will confront them with our physical strength, ability and pace of our own and we have a great chance in there. “I know the Norway team, more than they know us or can hope to know us. At the end of the day, it would come down to preparations. We must prepare very hard and then take it one match at a time during the finals.” — Dennerby (Vanguard NG).

The President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Amaju Pinnick, said the draw is a call to the Falcons to prepare by any means necessary for next year’s tournament, adding that the federation has begun preparations on its end to make sure the Falcons utilize every training opportunity. Former Super Falcons star, Mercy Akide-Udoh, who was at the the ceremony as a FIFA Ambassador for Women’s Football, said the NFF should ensure that the Falcons get all the training they need before France 2019.
