D’Tigers’ point guard, Ikechukwu Nwamu, is confident the Nigeria senior men’s basketball team can end the second leg of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 African Qualifiers unbeaten.

So far, D’Tigers have won every group game they’ve played leading up to this point, and have already picked a ticket for the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup in China. However, the team must ceremonially face Senegal, Ivory Coast, and Central African Republic in the final 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup qualifying series, scheduled to take place in Abidjan from February 22, to February 24.

The team will be looking to extend their unbeaten run till the end of the games, as a means to improve their ratings when the World Cup begins later this year.

It doesn’t disturb us at all. We are only worried about us and making sure we play well and the rest will take care of itself.

I think everyone is a threat. If we don’t come to play we will be in for a difficult time.

Ikechukwu Nwamu

The Fort Wayne Mad Ants 6 ft 5 shooting guard, recalled that playing for Nigeria at home was the best moment of the qualifying series for him:

The highlight for me personally was playing back home in Nigeria for sure. It was amazing! It was great to have our people be apart of everything.
