D’Tigers head coach, Alex Nwora, is optimistic that the Nigeria senior men’s basketball team will qualify for the 2019 FIBA World Cup in China.

Team work

The coach believes that more work and good team building can increase by a long shot the chances of D’Tigers making it to China next year, while also hinting that he may be giving out invitations to players ahead of the fourth round qualifiers. Nigeria will host the 2019 FIBA Men’s World Cup Group F’s fourth round of games in Lagos on 14th to 16th of September 2018. D’Tigers currently head Group F on 12 points from six games, while Senegal is following closely with 11 points. Central Africa Republic and Rwanda are in third and fourth place with 9 points respectively as Cote d’Ivoire and Mali occupy the fifth and sixth positions respectively with nine points.
I am very happy with where we are as a team, I think we can do better. We still have a long way to go to be able to have that type of team to compete with anybody in the worldWe have a very good chance, but nothing is cast on stone yet. The more you work, the more confident you become. If we keep doing what we are doing and keep pushing forward, the odds favour us. “We will do what we are supposed to do without cutting corners. We still have to get stronger as a team, unit rotation and also availability of players which is the biggest problem, which I hope we will find a way to fix.” — Nwora told CSN.
