Nigeria has won the right to host the 2019 Africa Rugby Silver Cup.
The Nigeria Rugby Football Federation (NRFF) disclosed that Nigeria will host the first Rugby Silver Cup pool tournament of the year in June 2019.
Planing has already begun for the tournament, which is expected to take place at the Lagos Polo Club, Victoria Island.
The NRFF stated that four countries, including Nigeria, have been selected into Pool A of the tournament.
Alongside Nigeria’s rugby team, Ghana, Botswana, and Madagascar, are all expected to be in Lagos for the pool championships.
Speaking to the media ahead of the Rugby championships, the NRFF Technical Director, Nitiense Williams, stated that it was an honor for Nigeria to host the event, and plans are already underway to ensure that the logistics and costs of hosting the tournament are cleared up in time for the games.
The early preparation for the pool tournament will further reassure the continental Rugby governing body of Nigeria’s determination to host a seamless event.
The NRFF President, Kelechukwu Mbagwu, is expected to be in Marrakesh, Morocco, for the 2019 Africa Rugby Summit, which will begin on Wednesday, February 27, and run through Saturday, March 2, 2019.
The event which will be attended by over 30 presidents from different Rugby Federations across Africa, will hold at the Adam Park Hotel, Morocco.
The presidents will meet to discuss the issues ailing the growth of the game in their respective countries and the continent in general.
