The Super Eagles of Nigeria will get to know their group stage opponents in the first ever 24-Team African Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals, on April 12.
The new date was approved by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), following its decision to strip Cameroon of its hosting rights on the basis of security and infrastructure.
The 2019 AFCON finals will now hold in Egypt, the Land of the Pyramids.
The draw ceremony, which has been scheduled to hold in Cairo, will see all 24 qualified teams grouped into six groups of four teams each.
At the end of the group phase, all teams in top two on their group tables, alongside the four best teams who finish in third-place, will progress to the Round of 16 of the competition.
As scheduled, the matches will be played across eight venues in the country, between Friday, June 21, 2019 and Friday, July 19, 2019.
Although the Super Eagles have already secured a place in the final showdown, they have an inconsequential group game in March, before the finals.
Nigeria will host Seychelles at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba on Saturday, March 23, 2019.
The game is expected to be part of the Super Eagles’ tune up friendlies in preparation for the 2019 AFCON final.
