Deaths and health-related issues
This is a sad one; but it was a major part of 2013. The industry lost singer Goldie Harvey, Justice Esiri, Enebeli Elebuwa, and Fada U-Turn to the hands of death.
Thanks to good Nigerians on social media who ensured that money was raised for surgery for ailing artistes such as Pa Kasunmu, OJB Jezreel, Ngozi Nwosu, and Olumide Bakare as they all battled and survived various health-related issues.
Notable shows in the entertainment industry in 2013 include, The Headies Awards, The Future Awards, Rhythm Uplugged, Lagos Countdown, and Love Like a Movie amongst others.
Some events were called off such as Kennis Music’s Easter Fiesta due to Goldie’s death. D’Banj’s popular end of the year concert, Koko Concert, was called off by the singer in honour of former South African President Nelson Mandela who died 5th December 2013.
