Women Discuss Leadership and Nation Building at 2015 WIMBIZ Conference

The 2015 edition of the annual Women in Management, Business and Public Service (WIMBIZ) commenced on Monday, with several women entrepreneurs from the various sectors in attendance. The two-day event was held at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The conference which was themed “Leadership… Step Up and Stand Out” addressed the need for increased participation of women professionals in Nigeria’s development, as well as the various challenges faced in the implementation of their roles.
Notable speakers and personalities present included chairperson of the day, Lady Maiden Alex-Ibru, Ibukun Awosika, Tolu Ogunlesi, Tara Fela-Durotoye, Mfon Ekpo, Hon. Oye Lithur, Henry Nzekwu, Yaw Nsarkoh, Eme Essien, Tariye Gbadegeain and many others.
A highlight of the conference was the appointment of Aisha Ahmad as the new chairperson of the WIMBIZ Executive Council, replacing Osayi Alile.
Women in Management, Business and Public Service (WIMBIZ) is a Nigeria based non-profit organisation established in 2001 by 14 individuals. It aims to “elevate the status and influence of women and their contribution to nation building” through a diverse range of programmes and initiatives geared towards the average Nigerian female entrepreneur.
