  The Super Eagles of Nigeria got perfect revenge against the Central African Republic on Sunday, October 10, 2021, in the second leg of their 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in Douala.

Nigeria recorded its first home loss in a World Cup qualifying game in 40 years after a late goal saw the Central African Republic beat Super Eagles 1-0 at the Teslim Balogun Stadium on Thursday, October 7, 2021. The win boosted the confidence of the Central Africans ahead of the second leg on Sunday, but the Super Eagles following large criticism from disappointed fans were willing to get it right in Douala. Leon Balogun scored his first international goal to gift the Super Eagles the lead in the 29th minute of the game before Victor Osimhen made it 2-0 in the added time of the first half. Nigeria dominated proceedings in the game from start to finish and remain top of Group C with 9 points, two points ahead of second-placed Cape Verde who beat Liberia 1-0 on Sunday.

Former Nigerian international, Odion Ighalo, has been named Player of the Month for September for his Saudi club, Al Shabab. Ighalo has been impressive for the Asian side, scoring three times in three league outings for The Lions in September. So far, Ighalo has scored five times in seven games for the Saudi club this season. In boxing, Nigerian heavyweight Boxer, Efe Ajagba, missed the chance of having a shot at a title after losing his first professional bout to Cuban boxer, Frank Sanchez, by unanimous decision.
