Pinterest is undoubtedly my favourite social networking website. It’s an art world, inspirational hub and knowledge-sharing platform all rolled into one. I always say that with the massive amount of ideas available on Pinterest, one can never run out of ideas on cooking, fashion, home organization, etc.
Pinterest is based on a user sharing model. Compared to Twitter and Facebook that are microblogging sites, Pinterest is a photo sharing platform. When you take a photo and upload it onto Pinterest, it is available for users and non-users of Pinterest to view. In turn, this picture can be repinned by another user, enabling them to gather pictures they love, and share them on their own timeline too.
Positives
Pinterest gives you ideas more than you need. If you’re looking for dinner ideas for Christmas, just type in a search query into Pinterest and you will have all photos and links that have been uploaded on Pinterest. You can then follow the links and web pages.
To save the results you get on your search, simply repin the picture onto your timeline.
On the other part, whenever you personally upload your picture to the internet, there will be a ‘pin now’ button that indicates that you can add that picture to your archive on Pinterest.
Downside
Not exactly a negative feature, but Pinterest can be a time suck. A simple search query could have you spending hours looking at perfectly prepared and packed lunch boxes and family dinners.
There is no limit to what you can find on Pinterest. There are so many ideas uploaded onto Pinterest every day that it is almost impossible to not find an inspiration for any project you are working on.
