The world witnessed a dramatic shift in the business scene due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Due to this, professionals and brands are looking to build more connections and create more content on LinkedIn in a bid to validate their services. Consumers/clients are also using the platform to make research on brands’ goods and services and to make purchases. With all these being said, it is therefore important that businesses work on their LinkedIn marketing strategy to turn their connections into clients that will patronize them. Below are six key steps to upgrade your LinkedIn marketing strategy:
- Be human in your posts: People do not have to feel like you are not genuine. They would want to connect with people with defined identities. As a LinkedIn user hoping to use the platform for your business progress, it is important that you use your personal stories and individual identity to connect with existing and potential clients. Talk about yourself. Share secrets and give pieces of advice. Show the human side of your brand, and watch as your page get more engagements. So, endeavour to use your human components to relate your impact in your field to your connections.
- Do not hesitate to get more connections: Expand your network by accepting invitations on LinkedIn. More connections mean more engagement. Your current visibility can be improved upon when you get more connections. Do not be biased when you get invitations, do not regard anyone as ‘mere people’.

- Partake in ongoing discussions: You cannot continue with publishing content on LinkedIn without responding to comments on your posts. People are going to notice if you ignore their opinions under your posts. Make sure that maintaining conversations/keeping the discussion going on is included in your strategy. Do not share only posts and refuse to interact afterwards. This will paint the picture that you are not interested in your connections. Also, it will make people believe that you will never give them a response if they attempt to engage you. So, to avoid all these, try to publish posts that are conversational in nature and follow through with the comments.
- Never miss the opportunity to talk about recent events: Learn to post about current events. That said, jump in on trending narratives and seize the moments to advance your marketing strategy. Current events, news and trends are important if you want to remain relevant.
- Consider the value you are bringing to the general public: When you share news, insights and observations, are they relevant to everyone? Even as you are concerned with driving traffic to your website, you should be concerned about the value of your content, too. All the new information you have for your audience should be mentioned in your LinkedIn posts and then they should be directed to your original website for more of it. If you came across a post that they would be glad to read, write about it and share it with them. Be the head in your field by showing everyone that you are good at what you do.
- Give recognition to others and promote your community: Learn to collaborate with other individuals and brands for the growth of your own business. When it comes to digital connections, you will learn that no one can do it all by oneself on social media. We all need the help of others. So, to improve your LinkedIn marketing strategy, talk about others who make valuable input in your field of expertise. Tag others to your posts and they will share those posts with their own audience, ultimately increasing your visibility and bringing more connections your way.
