Understanding Performance Metrics Of Google Adsense

Google Adsense is simply you giving permission to Adsense to post ads on your site that relates to your content, so it appeals to your audience.  Advantages of using Google Adsense include:
  1. It is free to join and use.
  2. The requirements for eligibility are easy and have no time limitation. You can monetize with a new blog.
  3. You can customize your ad options
  4. Once you make the $100 threshold, you start to get paid by Google monthly. 
  5. You can run ads on multiple sites with on adsense account.
  6. You can link your adsense account to other platforms like YouTube
Although there are disadvantages of using Google Adsense which includes its ability to terminate your account in an instant, and that you need traffic to make money. However, the advantages outweigh the cons.  To know how well you are doing, you need to have an understanding of performance metrics. To gauge your performance, you need to know the following: Your page views is simply how many people get to visit your page when the ads are being displayed. However, if you have multiple ads on your page, it does not count. If one person visits your page and sees the multiple ads, it still counts as one page view.

You get paid for how many people click on your ads when they visit your blog site. These clicks do not have to translate into sales, which is an advantage. You get paid when a click is done, whether a purchase is made or otherwise.  You can get tempted to want to click on your own ads so as to make sales, but you will get banned temporarily or permanently. Google uses a software that detects this and they take away your profit once you are caught.  An impression as defined by Google is counted by each ad request where at least one ad has been downloaded and viewed on a user’s device. This simply means when a click happens, there will be some amount of time for the ad to be downloaded and viewed. If the user clicks away before this happens, then it does not count as an impression. If you are running multiple ads, unlike page views, your impressions will be different.  There are two types of impressions: Served impressions and Downloaded impressions. Served impressions are counted when an ad is sent to a publisher’s site, while downloaded impressions are counted when an ad is downloaded and viewed by the user on his device.  AdSense is a great monetization option, but it’s not a get-rich-quick scheme. It takes time and effort to be successful in it. Furthermore, Google has rules that need to be studied by bloggers for effective exploitation. Most bloggers miss this when reading the terms of service. As a result, many website owners have found out the hard way that they’d violated a Google policy, and have lost their accounts forever.
