Nigeria is Africa’s economy and she is blessed with great brands – whether old or new. In this article, we shall itemize the top 10 most influential brands in Nigeria. The rationale behind our choice is anchored on public opinions from several selected studies, their influence on the Nigerian market, and the product’s relevance on Nigerians day-to-day use. On this list, we exclude religious organisations, NGOs, and tobacco companies.

Flutterwave
Flutterwave is one of Nigeria’s elite FinTech companies that hit the waves in 2020 when it emerged as a unicorn company. Not relenting, on 26 November 2021, Flutterwave announced the launch of its new e-commerce service, Flutterwave Market – an extension of its Flutterwave Store service – that will bring together a collection of merchant stores in one place. The Company was listed as one of the 2021 TIME100 Most Influential companies in the world.
God Is Good Motors
GIGM has been described as one of the most innovative transporting companies. It has also been applauded by Nigerians for its customer service. On December 9, 2021, the Company introduced an e-wallet and payment platform on its GIGM app. GIGM was voted the best transport company in Nigeria by AtlanticRide, for the year 2021.
Metro African Xpress
Nigerian mobility tech startup Metro Africa Xpress Inc. was made to our list because of its ability to navigate Nigeria’s harsh business environment. As a company that uses motorcycles for its operations, one would have thought that the company would face its hugest crisis when the Lagos State government banned the use of motorcycles. However, MAX NG went on building a sustainable system of adopting two, three and four-wheeler EVs to drivers through various leasing and financing options. This year on December 19, the company hit a milestone when it secured $31 million in Series B funding.
Air Peace
Air Peace has become a household name for airlines in Nigeria. It has been described as the airline of the year by Nigerians. It was the only airline given license to convey Nigerians to Dubai after so many scuffles. The Nigeria Football Federation on September 2nd of this year sealed a partnership agreement with Air Peace that made the frontline indigenous airline company the Official Airline Sponsor of Nigerian National Teams. Furthermore, its chairman, Barrister Allen Onyema, fulfilled his promise to the Super Eagles by giving them the sum of 20 million Naira for winning their match against the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde on Tuesday.
Access Bank
Access Bank is Nigeria’s most marketable bank and fastest-growing brand, following an 8% increase in brand value to US$262 million – growth that has bucked the global trend for the banking sector this year. Under its owner, Herbert Wigwe, Access Bank has moved from a newcomer to a giant bank with a huge customer base. For this, it has won the Best Mobile Banking App Nigeria 2021 – Finance Derivative Awards, and Best CSR Bank Nigeria 2021 – Finance Derivative Awards, among other awards.

Innonson Vehicle Manufacturing Company
Innonson Vehicle Manufacturing Company continues to be a category king in the area of automobile manufacturing in Nigeria. Founded in 2007, the company has its presence in Sierra Leone, Mali, and Ghana. The Company has been regarded as a proud brand of Nigeria. Its vehicles have been given as an award to winners of Big Brother Nigeria and other competitions. BUA Group
BUA Group is a leading, infrastructure, mining and manufacturing conglomerate. Owned by Abdul Samad Rabiu, BUA Group became a household name this year when it called for the subsidization of cement and the call for more cement producers in the country. The Founder and Executive Chairman of BUA Group, Abdulsamad Rabiu, provided a grant of N1billion to the Nnamdi Azikiwe University for the construction of a student complex in October 2021. He had given five other universities the same grant.
