Nigeria’s Women of Vision: Ifeyinwa Ighodalo

This year, Tiffany Amber has teamed up with the Diamond Bank’s “Diamond Woman” Initiative to celebrate Nigerian women notable for their achievements in their careers, as well as those making positive changes in the Nigerian society. This initiative is part of the celebration of Tiffany Amber’s 15 years anniversary, and one of such women selected is Ifeyinwa Ighodalo. Ifeyinwa Ighodalo is a furniture and interior design mogul. She is the founder of DO.II designs, an interior design company that specialises in furniture making, turn-key remodelling, interior designs and space planning for the high end residential, hospitality and corporate markets. With over two decades of experience in providing quality design options made in Nigeria, Ifeyinwa looks to be meeting her goal of being a top provider for high quality furniture and interior design services in Sub-Saharan Africa. Ifeyinwa Ighodalo wasn’t always a design mogul. She received an undergraduate degree in accounting from the University of Nigeria, Enugu campus. This was followed by a National Youth Service Corp job at a bank, which was in line with her father’s hope of her becoming a banker. Ifeyinwa however had other plans apart from banking. She knew she wanted to run a business, not work in a bank. Her eye for transforming simple spaces to beautiful works of art, as well as on and off experiences working at her parents’ furniture shop, gave her the direction in which she went. In 1985, Ifeyinwa moved to Lagos and got a job with a furniture company. She subsequently co-founded Design Options; an interior design and furniture making company. Ifeyinwa Ighodalo is well known for the uniqueness and beauty of her designs. From corporate offices to personal spaces, DO.II designs always show that touch of sophistication and elegance. In 2012, she won the Best Residential Designer category in the first edition of the Interior Design Excellence Awards. For her contribution to the economy, and for being a positive role model to young Nigerian women and budding entrepreneurs, Ifeyinwa Ighodalo is one Nigerian woman that definitely deserves to be celebrated.
