I’m Skinny, Do I Need Exercise?

I’m Skinny, Do I Need Exercise? - www.connectnigeria.com
I’m tired of people asking if I want to disappear every time they see me exercising. It is almost becoming offensive and I’m not just talking about the subtexts in that statement. This post is not for those people so let’s not go into that. This is for you and I who don’t get fat no matter what we eat. People pay us compliments on our ‘nice’ bodies and our cheeks turn so red butterflies start to perch on them…. In fact, when our friend heads out to go jog the length of Ikoyi bridge you wave them goodbye thanking God silently that you don’t have any weight to lose. My dear, who told you that exercise is for only those trying to lose weight? That your body doesn’t store fat as efficiently as other people’s doesn’t mean that the junk you’re stuffing into your system isn’t deteriorating your health. That you look slim doesn’t mean that you’re fit. Try running up a flight of stairs and you’ll see what I mean. Still wondering why you should exercise? Here’s a number of reasons: Healthy Muscles: Exercising would keep you flexible. It’ll stretch your muscles and ligaments and get rid of back pains and joint aches. It’ll also help with other muscle-related problems. Energy: Exercising keeps you upbeat. Especially if you exercise in the mornings, it’ll get you the energy you need for the day ahead. Even added if you exercise regularly, you’ll find yourself always energized. Heart Health: High level off Cholesterol in the body can affect your general heart health. Dangers of high cholesterol include risks of stroke, heart attack, heart failure etc. Exercising helps to reduce the percentage of cholesterol in your body. Also exercising would lower your heart rate per minute as this is also key in determining your heart health. The normal rate for heart rate per minute is 60-100. If yours is higher or lower then you need to get yourself checked out. Even if you’re in the normal scale, you should try to get it as low as possible by exercising regularly. Great Physique: Whether you want a flatter belly or tighter butt, or wider hips or toned muscles, dedicated exercising can help you achieve it. Even slim people can exercise for a flatter belly or tight butts etc. right? Exercises that concentrate on these parts of your body would not affect your general mass index, so you don’t have to worry about ‘disappearing’. These and more are reasons slim people should exercise.
