Believing in you is a choice. It is an attitude that takes time to nurture. Although your life gets a big boost if you were fortunate to have very positive parents, the reality is often otherwise for most people. Most people grow up conditioned with self limiting beliefs and negative attitudes largely as a result of bad-mouthed parents. Even at this, the past is the past. There is absolutely no reward for blaming others for your current level of self-esteem. It is now your responsibility to take charge of your beliefs and self-image. You must choose to believe that you can accomplish any task, dream or income bracket you desire because you can.
Neurologists and Quantum Physicists from the world’s best institutions have come out with a lot of research to show that with the positive self talk and visualization, anybody can train or retrain himself to achieve any desirable goal. To you, anything is possible but you’ve got to see it in your mind first.
In his book, The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, Stephen Covey talks about everything having two creations. The first creation is in the mind. Your thoughts substantiate the joy, love, achievements even the failures you experience. In my previous article about decisions, I said the key to altering your life’s outcomes were simply making new decision about whatever you want to change. You can make a decision right now –and you should- never to think a limiting thought ever again.
You know biblically, you were created in the image and likeness of God and God is perfect. Hold that thought for a while. Now if God designed you to be like him, then you are capable of perfection. Forget all the victim stories and uninspiring things you have come to believe about yourself and begin to think about yourself in the light of your Creator’s original intention.
The great innovator, Thomas Edison once said that, “if we did all the things we were capable of doing, we would literally astound ourselves.” How true. You were fashioned in God’s image and likeness. So next time –and there will be a next time- a thought of rejection, failure or poverty crosses your mind, remember, you are creating an outcome. Change your mind immediately and remind yourself that you are special!
I leave off hoping you have been inspired to believe in you. After all, the holy book says:”As a man thinks in his heart, so is he. (Proverbs 23.7)”
