Brands We Love: Honeywell Group

honeywell group
The Honeywell Group is best known for its flour mill business, which is one of the largest in the agro-processing subsector of Nigeria’s manufacturing industry. But Honeywell flour mills, widely recognized as it is, represents only one of several arms of a large conglomerate, one which sits close to the top of the elite class of indigenous business empires.

The Beginning

Founded in 1972 by Oba Otudeko, Honeywell began as a trading business, preoccupied with the importation and distribution of baking yeast, stock fish, glass and steel rods. Over the years it’s reinvented itself, becoming a key player in sectors of the country’s economy that it is today. It’s probably hard to imagine that an importer of stock fish and baking agents could transform into a giant that’s spreading its tentacles through the food processing, energy, infrastructure and real estate industries. But it’s taken over four decades to happen, and more than a fair bit of smart investment too.

An array of industry leading companies

The Honeywell Group houses several companies under its umbrella. Apart from the Honeywell flour mill, there’s the Uraga real estate, HOGL Energy, Broadview Engineering, Anchorage leisures, Pavilion technology, HERIL (Honeywell Energy Resources International Limited), and Uraga Power Solutions.
