AYDE Tackle Youth Unemployment

In an attempt to mitigate current youth unemployment in the country, the Advocate for Youth Development and Empowerment (AYDE), a non-governmental organisation, has been launched. Its Executive Director, Tunde Oyedele, said AYDE is aimed at building operations based on group discussions of youth communities around the country, highlighting that it seeks to create a free market hub for small scales and start-up businesses. He added that the primary purpose for the establishment of the project is the increasing number of unemployed people in the country. He noted that from the basic youth interaction and events AYDE have participated in, nine out of ten graduates are unemployed. According to him, AYDE was created to aid well-meaning youth in the society to embrace change and develop themselves better in their crafts and careers, while contributing collectively to the development of a greater nation. “We have also discovered that most of the youths are not well-educated on self-empowerment programmes being organised, job opportunities and skills acquisitions.” “It will also include suggesting ideas and proposals to leading organisations about the discussed topics and how they can help the youths in achieving their aims,” he said. Oyedele also stated that they will be partnering with other organisations on conducting seminars for self-empowerment skills, providing job access tips, and enabling participation in agriculture and skills acquisition programmes.
