Not every ailment should take you to the pharmacy’s counter or keep you on hospital beds. Our bodies are capable of healing with time and under the right conditions. Here are some tips you should consider before giving in to drugs and perhaps, surgery.
1. When down with common cold
Most common cold infections have a period of one week after which causative virus complete their cycle. The body’s immune system is capable of dealing with the flu virus. Instead of resorting to using antibiotics, help your immune system work faster by taking hot drinks, putting on warm clothes, taking more fruits and having enough sleep. Also, remember that traditional treatment with herbs, honey and ginger is very effective.
2. When headaches visit
It might be because you’re not having enough sleep, you’re most times on the screen or you have low blood sugar from lack of proper feeding. So before throwing in aspirin into your system, shut down your devices, take a shower, eat and sleep.
3. When feeling constipated
Replace junk with fresh fruits, vegetables, and water. In addition, exercise increases muscle activity in your intestines says Mayo Clinic. These work healthier than synthetic laxatives.
4. When appendicitis is first diagnosed
Consider treatment with antibiotics to eliminate chances of surgery. Your doctor should be able to suggest that you make a decision between treatment with antibiotics and appendectomy (surgery for removing the appendix). According to a research report by Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) last year, the majority of patients who were treated with antibiotics did not require a later operation. Mild appendicitis can be treated with antibiotics which work against microorganisms that can cause the inflammation.
