3 Common Mistakes People Make When Working Out

Exercise not only does great wonders for your health, it also keeps you sharp and in shape in your mind and body. That is why engaging in daily exercise is a health recommendation for all, whether you are in perfect shape or you are out of shape. To get maximum benefits from daily exercise or work outs, they have to be done right. If you aren’t seeing results, here are three ways we think you may have been doing your workout wrong. 1. Staying on a particular routine too long: One of the easiest and the most engaged-in types of exercises is cardio, but that is not the only work out that is available if you are really serious about exercise. It is true that walking keeps most of the important muscles of the body active, but diversifying your work out will better ensure that attention is given to all your muscles and in different ways, all of your muscles become active. 2. Increasing time; decreasing resistance: It is true that the time you spend working out will eventually add up to a rewarding work out experience but, that won’t happen if the workouts you decide to engage in do not create resistance and a challenge for your body. The other extreme which involves increasing resistance and decreasing time can also be counter-productive. It is important that you learn to pace your exercise correctly. You don’t have to exercise for a full hour every day when you are just starting out. You can start with 30 minutes and break the rest of your workout into different parts of the day. Your work outs should be tough, and challenging enough, but not so much as to make the resistance too high for you as it can lead to severe injuries. 3. Not treading lightly with new exercises: Some of us who have perfected the art of a simple exercise practically jump on new challenging exercises as if they both operate on the same wave length. As workouts becomes more challenging, the demands they make on your muscles and your body need to be gradually applied, or the stress applied too soon may cause a weak elbow, shoulder or knee to fail. Have it at the back of your mind that exercising is a commitment you have made for the long haul to keep your body, muscles and mind in the best shape and in good health. Therefore, take your time and have fun with it.
