World Peace: Achievable Today

World Peace: Achievable Today - www.connectnigeria.com
For many of us, discussions on world peace is null and void as it does not seem to sync with our daily lives. As we go about our routines, we must “learn to live with each other as brothers or we all perish as fools”. It is not the absence of war that creates peace, but the act of accepting everyone else as distinct in ourselves.  In order to have tranquility, it is not enough to speak with our lips that we do not want war, but to make sacrifices for it. Everyone should be ready to understand that where one’s Right starts, another person’s Right ends. World peace is an ideal state of glee. Bliss amidst all individuals, countries, and states across the globe. This Utopian state seems very much of an ideal than a reality, nevertheless, it is very much achievable. The beautiful truth is that short moment of tranquility can be repeated every second. This would  result to an increase in the number of  non-violence days. Question of racism, ethnicism, and tribalism should be answered rightly. As it has the power to destroy the thread that holds us all together. Many of us take up our swords and still echo the word ‘peace’. Even though we do not start out to strike our opponent, we have inevitably declared enmity on ourselves. Sometimes, the weaponry can depict our words, our actions or even our inner thoughts.  Politicizing even the least of our actions can land us in a deep fry. You are all it takes to make a difference. Be yourself in your own little corner. Your peace equals world peace. When you are at peace with the world, the world becomes at peace. This is because you influence everyone around you with your inner calmness. Many a religion desire an end to violence, they preach unity, however, they do not practice it.  We struggle so much with the larger picture and complicate all we have learned. Hence it is imperative to keep it simple. Overthinking all of your actions might give the reversible set course to follow. When you practice peace, it automatically works. And as Shakespeare rightly said, and so I reverberate prayerfully :
“And our peace shall stand as firm as rocky mountains”
