Meanwhile, the virtual tour Secretary Blinken is engaging also extends to a complementary meeting with Young African Leadership Initiative (YALI) alumni in Nigeria. In a session tagged “Ten Questions with Tony” event, YALI alumni will have an opportunity to engage with Blinken on topics such as what the role of youth in the future of Africa, economic development, democracy and good governance, climate change, and health holds. By engaging YALI, the United States diplomatic desk is looking to involving the public, private sector, and civil society partners directly as an alternative to helping initiatives that will let Africa grow via creativity, innovativeness, and energy solutions. After all, civil society groups are more directly involved with the people even more than the government is nowadays. And as for the meeting with Buhari and Geoffrey Onyeama initiatives for better engaging the diaspora will become more productive and beneficial. On the other hand, there is virtually nothing else the United States government can do to directly help improve the security situation and worsening economic indices without the Buhari administration firstly admitting that it has a huge responsibility on its neck.
