For some of us, spending a N100 on things doesn’t hurt. The Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy (CECP), an initiative of the Organised Private Sector to create a vibrant social sector through tripartite partnership, has announced how you can spend your best N100 yet. You’re probably asking how at this point. N100 can go towards the TGIF Campaign which is targeted at raising funds towards the purchasing of a mobile screening center that will help save lives by enabling the early detection of cancers malignant growth.
In Nigeria, about 10,000 cancer deaths are recorded annually while 250,000 new cases are recorded yearly. Breast and cervical cancers are most common among women while prostate cancer is more predominant in men in the country.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) reports that developing countries putatively account for more than two-thirds of the new cancer cases and deaths each year. However, it is said that only 17 percent of African countries have sufficiently funded cancer control programmes.
The mobile screening center will enable people wider access to cancer screening tests and create greater awareness to those who don’t know about the threat of cancer so that they can tackle the disease before it tackles them.
To participate and donate N100,it is as simple as Sending ‘SAVE’ from any network to 44777. To give more than N100, use QuickTeller by sending 777526 as the online code. Let’s help buy a mobile screening center and invest in early detection, let’s save more lives. Let’s Attack Cancer Together (ACT)!
