The AWARD Leadership Program for African Women in Agriculture

  Applications are now being accepted for the 2025 AWARD Leadership Program, aimed at empowering young African women in agricultural sciences. This program is open to women under the age of 35 from selected African countries, including Nigeria.

Funded by the Carnegie Corporation of New York (CCNY) and managed by the African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD), the program is designed to cultivate a network of skilled, confident, and influential young women scientists. The goal is to equip them with the skills necessary to thrive in agricultural sciences, take on leadership roles, and advocate for gender integration in the agricultural sector.

Since its launch in 2020, the AWARD Leadership Program has attracted participants from a wide range of agricultural disciplines, including biophysical and social sciences. It brings together women from various sectors such as government agencies, NGOs, academia, research institutions, and the private sector. To date, the program has supported 75 emerging women scientists from 21 African countries.
