Team Nigeria is yet to have a competitor in the final round of any competition so far and our awful showing continued yesterday as the D’ Tigers lost to Lithuania 72-53.

There wasn’t too much activity for Team Nigeria on this day. With some of our hopefuls losing out in other sports we are anxiously waiting for the athletics events to start and also for Chika Chukwumerije to show us again what winning a medal feels like.

First day at the Olympics, Nigeria participated only in Tennis with veteran Segun Toriola going head to head with Sweden’s Jorgen Persson, who has played tennis at the Olympics since Seoul 1988 and Quadri Haruna squaring off against Spain’s Carlos Machado.
Olympics 2012: D’ Tigers Victorious against African champion, Tunisia!

In the early hours of the Sunday morning, D’ Tigers took to the court to face the Tunisian Basketball team. The game which ended with Nigeria on the winning end saw Alade Aminu scoring 15 points and nine rebounds while Ike Diogu added 13 points and 10 rebounds as Nigeria just beat Tunisia 60-56 in the opening game of the Olympic men’s basketball tournament.
