Over the past weeks, the clash between the Super Eagles and the Chipolopolo of Zambia has been a major debate on many platforms, and fans have expressed their thoughts for the match-up on Saturday.
Nigeria was top of the group B table with 10 points, 7 points ahead of Zambia, who the Super Eagles defeated in the earlier stages of the tournament. The Zambians were almost ruled off the qualifiers until they performed a back to back win against Algeria in September, making them Nigeria’s direct contenders for the Russia 2018 ticket.
Following their show of sleight over the Algerians, the Chipolopolo have since been very determined and intrepid for the showdown on Saturday. Zambian Coach Wedson Nyirenda, had this to say in response to what to expect in Uyo on Saturday:
“The atmosphere is so great here and there is so much positive energy in the team that I can see us beating Nigeria. The captain is here as well as Chisamba and they have been training extremely well with the rest of the team. Preparations are going on well and there is so much oneness and love among the players and technical bench. We are all focused towards achieving that common goal of winning the match”
Despite the misfortunes that have befallen favorite players, the Coach has remained dauntless and in a statement, affirmed that he is entirely satisfied with the squad he has to work with.
“Edward’s absence is just a minor setback and will not derail our plans that much because we have enough manpower to fill the vacuum and Patson is a fighter, I am positive he will pass the fitness test before the match on Saturday,”
The Super Eagles have defeated Zambia before, even now that the Chipolopolo have improved, the Eagles have remained unwavering and assure of their victory against Zambia on Saturday.
