Super Eagles chief coach, Gernot Rohr, has admitted to being uncertain about his future with the Nigerian national team.
The German tactician’s contract runs until June 2020, but he is unsure of remaining in charge of the team at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon if the Eagles qualify. However, Rohr has expressed total commitment to his role and looks forward to achieving great things with the 2019 AFCON bronze-wining squad.
I have a lot I want to achieve. Big things with Nigeria. I can see what the future can produce. I hope I can work with Nigeria Football Federation to achieve those things. But I don’t know [about] my situation after June 2020. We have to see what happens…
As is known, my current contract with the Super Eagles runs till June 2020. This ends right in the middle of the qualifying campaign for the 2021 AFCON. It’s a bit strange that I have a contract ending while I have to qualify for the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon.

Nigeria have been drawn alongside Benin, Sierra Leone and Lesotho in the Group L of the AFCON qualifiers, and a top two finish will guarantee Nigeria the ticket to the AFCON 2021 finals in Cameroon.
The Super Eagles will also commence their bid for a spot in the 2022 FIFA World Cup slated to hold in Qatar when qualifiers begin in March 2020.
