J.C Ryle once said, “Two things are said to be very rare sights in the world—one is a young man humble, and the other is an old man content”.
Being filled with anxiety over one’s possession is the bane of contentment. A lot is told, about those who stress their hand to pluck a fruit they cannot get. It seems like a Herculean task in a society like us, with getting rich scheme, to achieve contentment.
Even when there is an over pouring of one’s heart influx, we still search for the extra something to have. Whoever is satisfied with what they have? What others call a lack of contentment may be described as Ambition. It can be moving in the right direction, but with no idea of the destination.
Lack of contentment has been described as closely related to stealing. A young child who is discontented with whatever is on his plate would be termed a thief. A lot of the politicians cannot justify the needs for their material possessions. But saving for the fourth generation may be good in itself, but eh! There are several rich fathers who after their death, their possessions could not be accounted for.
A story was told about a former president’s wife who allegedly died on a doctor’s table. Not judging whoever feels the need to adjust what they do not feel comfortable with, but not at your body’s detriments. Remember when girls tucked their bras with stockings or prayed for a miraculous increase in body shape? Now you hear I don’t bleach, I tone. Amen, Sister, I won’t mention your multi coloured patching.
Side hustling is the surest way to go if you are not satisfied with what you have. Do not wait until you bend before thinking of a private business. It’s time to do other legit works to earn a living. Be a Jack of all trade and Master of All.
If you are into the entertainment business, do not feel at ease with your one hit, one wonder track. Get involved with other aspects of the industry. As a farmer, do not concentrate only on farming. There are other agro allied processes you can get engaged with. Students, ‘eni to mo way lo mo we’, should not be applied because ‘beauty opens door to places but only brains can retain you.’
Well, before we grow old and to avoid remarkable regrets, let’s work to multiply where and who we are.
