Restaurant Review: De Chill’s HIND Restaurant

By Pamela Agboga Nestled between Collectibles and Talk 2 Me boutiques, is No 38 Adeniran Ogunsanya Street, Surulere. Remember that number, because like James Bond’s car that has hidden gadgets, somewhere hidden on that premises is a restaurant worth visiting. De Chill’s HIND Restaurant has an odd name, and might have remained a mystery, but for the power of bulk sms and delivery offers. Finding the place wasn’t hard, but I was hungry, and therefore grouchy, thinking, “Hope this place would be worth the stress.” From the door in; elegance and calm. The waiters are courteous and friendly, on phone and in person.  The restaurant is three years old and this is the only outlet for the time being. It is small and cozy, perfect for small group lunches or dinners, or just drinks with friends. I was seated with a flourish and handed the menu books. Confusion. Names like spicy Cajun jambalaya, salad fattoush, tiger prawns, chicken schnitzel (German grub?), beef rossini, beef fajhita, and tagliatelli marinara (Bless you!) swam before my eyes. As you well know, it just won’t do to come last, so I selected something a bit daring, yet familiar; Cajun fried rice with barbecued chicken, and a chapman. I waited about 20 minutes for the meal, because of the chicken. Now that chicken, honey brown and soft as butter, yum! The fried rice was also very busy being healthy; corn, fried eggs, shrimps, spring onions and some other UVOs (unidentified veggie objects) frolicked with the rice. I could just hear my nutritionist saying; “Now that was a very well-balanced diet.” Being a restaurant with bar and lounge attached, they have a fair amount of themed programmes through the week, and they are looking to expand, but till they do, feel free to make like Sherlock Holmes and investigate this place.  And yes, lazy bees; they deliver: 10am-6pm.   Location 38 Adeniran Ogunsanya Street, Surulere, Lagos.
