Nigeria’s Women of Vision; Eku Edewor

Whether gracing the covers of magazines, interviewing stars or performing on screen, Eku Edewor has established herself firmly in the African entertainment industry as a talent on the rise. Born in London to Nigerian and British parents, Eku was raised between London and Nigeria, an experience that granted her the privilege of being exposed to two vastly different environments. Eku, whose wish is to play strong female roles like Angelina Jolie, got her first professional job in acting and theatre very early in her life, when she landed her first part alongside her twin sister in a play called “Skeleton” and performed at the National Arts Theatre in Lagos, before she later went on to study English and Theatre at the University of Warwick and also trained as an actress at the New York Film Academy. Upon relocating to Nigeria she got a job as co-presenter on Mnet’s Studio 53 Extra while managing her mother’s restaurant. In 2007, Eku competed in the reality show Britain’s Next Top Model. She also appeared in theatre productions while studying at Warwick University and the New York Film Academy. Her first job in the entertainment industry was as a production assistant to producer Damian Jones who she worked with from September 2008 through October 2009. Eku is an OAP, actor, model, producer and a foremost fashionista. Her fashion choices brought her to the attention of newspapers, columns and blogs. She co-hosted the Big Brother Africa All Stars live red carpet show in 2010, and she has also hosted the Pepsi Top Ten Countdown since 2012. She has appeared in commercials for M-NET’s 25th Anniversary and also commercials for Martini. In all, Eku has shown with her resilience, tenacity and determination to climb the career ladder all by herself and continually making a statement, that she is well deserving of a spot in the Tiffany Amber “Meet Nigeria’s Women of Vision” campaign.
