It is usually darkest before the dawn.
Nigerians are tired, tired of everything bad; bad leadership, bad infrastructure, bad schools, bad roads, bad hospitals, bad leaders, bad power supply. And they have every reason to be tired and feel frustrated. However, they are about to do something rash, because of their feelings.
They are about to take it out on the wrong guy, for the right reasons. However, this action may do more harm than good.
What is going on now reminds me of the story of a man who dug for gold for years and stopped short of the gold 2 feet from it, because he was tired and gave up. We can’t afford to give up now.
As a result of the present situation, a “messiah” (a rebranded candidate that was also a very bad leader, who ruled when most of the people of voting age now were not even born) appears on the scene, without a certificate, offering “change”. No game plan, just change. Most people, because they are tired and are also tired of lies, decide to believe this, without asking questions. Is this man capable? Does he have the experience? The education? The surprising and sad thing is that people are so tired, they don’t want to ask important questions. Others don’t seem to care. Some say if he has a NEPA certificate, they will still vote for him. If he dies before the election date, they will still vote for him. They will vote for anyone but the current president. Where is the rational thought in that?
Has the present president messed up? Yes. But is it worth throwing him out for a visibly less capable candidate? NO. Absolutely not.
I urge people who are anti-the President, to research well before they mortgage the future of the country, our children and grandchildren for the momentary satisfaction of throwing out the president. Allow me to be graphic here; it’s almost as if someone wants to have sex with a stranger- it may give you momentary satisfaction, but if you catch HIV you will live with the consequences for the rest of your life.
The President has achieved a lot in the short while he has been in office. For those who care to find out, please visit

You have to remember, it took over 50 years to destroy Nigeria, it will take more than 4 to build it back up.
My advice is, let the current president finish his 4 more years, and let Nigeria and Nigerians get ready for 2019. However we need to demand more from the current president once re-elected.
I am sure that these elections have shown everyone that is watching, Nigerians are tired and want to see change and the future crop of politicians need to step up their game. We must keep pressing for it.
On a side note, if truly the General (why is he called that in a democracy?) wants change, he should have stepped down for a younger and able candidate like Fashola or even Amaechi.
The General would serve far better as the chairman of the EFCC. He wouldn’t have let the people sponsoring his campaign do so because they are all corrupt and he, General Buhari, knows it.
On February 14, let us do what is right for Nigeria and her future. Let us vote for President Jonathan to finish what he has started.
