to unveil the state’s e-Commerce project, which marked a turning point in the history of commerce in Kano State and the Northern region.
2. The Director General, Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE),
Mr. Benjamin Dikki has said over N4 trillion workers pension fund in stable deposits is now ready for investment in developing the economy. Diki said “Governments ought to owe the ultimate owners of the resources an explanation on how the resources have been used in developing the people.”

Lagos State government has said it targets meeting 25 per cent of food production in the state by 2018. State Commissioner for Agriculture and Cooperatives, Prince Gbolahan Lawal said about 25 per cent of food consumed in the state will be produced in the state, adding that this was in line with the last Maputo Declaration.
4. A global software and business technology consulting firm, Software Business Solutions Consulting
(SBSC), recently unveiled its first regional Africa headquarters and technology innovation centre in Lagos. Speaking at the launch of its new headquarters, Chief Executive Officer of SBSC Africa, Rotola Ogunye, noted that the company would be involved in software development and management consulting among others, and that it is going to be the base of the African operations.
5. The National Education Research and Development Council (NERDC), has
commended Globacom for designing Glo Mobile Tutor, which it described as a comprehensive and affordable application software that would revolutionise teaching and learning across primary and secondary schools the country.
6. The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation
(NNPC) Cooperative Society has voted N1 billion for fish farming in Kampe dam located between Kabba and Lokoja in Kwara and Kogi States, the Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority (LNRBDA) has said.

The telecoms sector has so far attracted over $40 billion investments and employed over one million Nigerians, 13 years after its deregulation. The Director General of the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE), Mr. Benjamin Dikki, noted that the deregulation of the telecoms sector and the participation of private GSM operators like MTN, Glo, Airtel, Etisalat, Visafone, etc. has resulted in over 123 million active telephone lines available in Nigeria compared to 450,000 lines before the reform.

The Lagos Deep Offshore Logistics, LADOL and Samsung Heavy Industries SHI, have formed a partnership to establish a N51 billion vessel fabricating facility. The facility with quay length of approximately 520 meters, depth of 13.5 meters and heavy lifting area of 5,000 metric tons is designed to become Africa’s largest vessel fabrication and integration facility and will create 50,000 new jobs in Nigeria.
9. MTN Foundation, the corporate social investment arm of MTN Nigeria Communications Limited, has
donated security vehicles to the Rivers State Government under the third phase of its Security Support Project (SSP).
10. With less than 10 per cent of cashew produced in the country being processed,
stakeholders within the cashew sector have sought government’s intervention in setting up a N50 billion-development fund for the commodity.
