Nigeria moves to Increase Exportation of Fruits to Europe

Nigeria moves to Increase Exportation of Fruits to Europe- www.connectnigeria.com
With the dwindling demand for petroleum and petroleum products, Nigeria is focused on diversifying its economy by increasing exportation of fruits to European countries. The Nigerian Ports Authority has concluded an arrangement with Port of Antwerp, Belgium to sign a Technical Collaboration Agreement. This is towards the increment of exportation of Nigerian fruits to European countries. The organization is first making Nigerian Fruits gain access to the Port and then to other European countries. This was made known by The President of the Nigerian-Belgian Commercial Information and Documentation Centre, NBCIDC, Tunde Okoya as he disclosed to News Agency of Nigeria on Monday in Lagos. The arrangement has already been concluded to lead a second Trade Mission to Belgium from September 19 to September 21, involving all sectors of the fruit agro allied industry. Since time is of the valuable essence for fresh produce, there is going to be an interaction with Belgian processors of agro produce foods to interact with their Nigerian Counterparts in other to have access to the European Market. Non-oil products such as citrus fruits and horticultural products have been leading in the exportation, however lack of proper storage facilities have left many exporters staring at losses, but we are confident that with this move, there is going to be a change of tune.
