June 2nd saw the official opening ceremony of MTN’s 21 days of Y’ELLO Care 2014 which was held at the courtyard, MTN Golden Plaza Building in Ikoyi,Lagos.
The 21 Days of Y’ELLO Care is an annual MTN staff world tier initiative initiated in 2006 by the multinational telecommunications company. It is a hands on initiative where MTN staff give back to society. The primary objective of the initiative is to take the attention of the telecommunication’s staff away from their daily job activities and give them the chance to give back to society through showing them that MTN cares about what the people care about.
As it has been in prior years, in 2014 the focus will be on education with particular emphasis on the digital world. The theme, “Education in a Digital World” will make sure that there is a digital element for the schools that they will be engaging with. The intention is to make a difference in these schools and leave behind a lasting impression.
Amina Oyagbola, the Human Resources Executive of MTN declared that MTN is dedicated to seeing the society become better. She urged all Nigerians who love their country to come together to contribute to building up the country.
Other special guests that were at the event are the Executive Secretary, Lagos State Technical Vocational Education Board, Nikki Laoye, Banky W, and Harry Song. Students from different secondary schools in Lagos were also in attendance. The opening ended on a promising and exciting note, motivating all staff and interested citizens to participate.
To participate, buses will be provided at different MTN centres where interested citizens can volunteer to join the exercise.
