Telecoms giant, MTN, is purportedly set to launch a branded affordable android device in July 2014, at a price of under ten thousand naira.
The android phone will run with 4.2 OS, internal storage 4GB, 512 RAM, microSD of up to 32GB, pre-installed BBM, Wi-Fi and bluetooth, a USB with FM radio support, and a front and rear camera.
With an increase in the use of android phones in the Nigerian market and the launch of BBM data plans for android phones, the prices of blackberry phones have crashed at a ridiculous rate and android phones with better specifications are getting cheaper especially with companies like Tecno emerging with pocket friendly phones.
Nigeria has over 4 million smartphone users in Africa. Behind South Africa and Egypt, the mobile market in Nigeria is one that will continue to thrive as it keeps evolving, because Nigerians will continue to keep up with trends and innovations.
