Motivational Monday: How to Be Successful by Tyler Perry

There is so much to learn from success stories like Tyler Perry’s; stories of people who have made an impact in their respective fields and are creating opportunities for others to do so. Mr. Perry has been in the entertainment industry since the 1990s and is best known for his stage plays and movies featuring the fictional character, Madea. You may have seen a few of them: Diary of a Mad Black Woman, Madea’s Family Reunion, Madea Goes to Jail and Meet the Browns among many others. In 2011, Forbes named him the highest paid man in Hollywood with earnings of US$130 million between May 2010 and 2011. In 2012, he made a major move in television, striking a multi-year deal with the Oprah Winfrey Network to produce a variety of scripted shows – The Haves and the Have-Nots, For Better or Worse and Love Thy Neighbour. The shows have performed really well on the network, receiving high ratings from audiences. But things haven’t always been smooth for Perry. From attempting suicide as a child to dropping out of high school, all hope seemed lost in the beginning. He took the brave step of cashing in his $12,000 life savings to finance his first stage play, I Know I’ve Been Changed, and the rest is history as they say. In the video below, he shares with us his philosophy for success, including the invaluable God Factor in all his dealings. Hope you were inspired!  Do share the positivity with friends and colleagues today.
