Life After Mavin: Wande Coal Floats Own Label

The recent boardroom crisis at Mavin Records might be creating a new vista for Wande Coal. The dark chubby singer who officially parted ways with Mavin Records has reportedly established his own record label. Wande Coal and Don Jazzy, CEO of Mavin Records, had some differences some months back over intellectual property rights, but that seems to be resolved as an official statement was released by Mavin Records announcing the departure of the Bumper 2 Bumper crooner. “It is with deep regret that we officially announce the departure of recording artist Wande Ojosipe, popularly known as Wande Coal, from Mavin Records due to irreconcilable differences,” a statement from Mavin CEO, Don Jazzy, reads.

“Over the past few months, Mavin Records has made a concerted move to consolidate its position in the Nigerian music industry. Mavin has pursued renewed ethos to raise its standards of quality and professionalism to a world-class level. Wande’s vision has not aligned with ours and a few months ago all parties mutually agreed that a separation would be the best course of action.” The Mavin records statement also confirmed that both parties enjoyed a good working relationship, but regrets the untimely departure of the singer from the label. “Both Mavin Records and Wande Coal have enjoyed a remarkable run in the course of their working relationship. It is unfortunate that conflicting priorities contributed to the premature curtailment of a hitherto fruitful accord. Mavin Records reaffirms its goal to constantly provide high quality music to our fans and introduce new and exciting talent into the industry. We wish Wande Coal the best of luck in all his future endeavours”. In a new development, Wande Coal released some new promo pictures as he prepares to release his second album which is yet to be titled.
