The management of the Nigeria Professional Football League outfit, Kwara United made public the recent removal of technical adviser John Obuh from their books.
The announcement was related to Complete Sports Nigeria by the club’s media officer Waheed Bibire, stating that the decision was fueled by the poor performance of the club since the beginning of this NPFL season which has left the team at the bottom of the league table with 11 points from 12 matches.
Before conclusions were made on Obuh’s fate, the club had given the coach a three-match ultimatum to turn the tides on the woes that had befallen the team leading to their humdrum performance so far. However, Obuh failed to meet up with the demands of the club hierarchy, having suffered a defeat and a draw following the ultimatum. With only one match left to the exhaustion of the three-match ultimatum, the club management figured there was nothing more Obuh could do and therefore decided on his sack.
It is such a bad time for former Flying Eagles head coach who led the Harmony Boys back into the top flight after two seasons in the Bet9ja Nigeria National League. Nonetheless, Kwara United left no doors open as they immediately replaced Obuh with former Niger Tornadoes coach Abubakar Bala.
Due to the circumstances surrounding his appointment, Bala’s immediate task would be to improve the performance and results of Kwara United. All eyes will be peeled-in to see how well he would do in changing the tides for the Ilorin club.
Abubakar Bala would be officially unveiled as Kwara United’s new coach on Wednesday at the conference room of the indoor sports hall of the Kwara Sports Complex.
