Social media marketing can be overwhelming, with over 100 million daily active users. You need to get on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other platforms, but sometimes, you don’t just know what to do.
You might even have an idea of what should be done, but it’s a scary world, and starting could be a headache on its own. So, how do you get them to notice your brand in front of these people? In this article, I will highlight 3 tips I believe will help you launch into social media marketing and get it right.
Choose your platform
There are numerous social media platforms. Since you will want to register in all of them, at least the major ones, this decision might not be right. This is because you won’t have enough time to focus on the core platform(s) that will be significant to the growth of your brand.
Do your research and identify the right platform. If you are a B2B business, you might consider leveraging LinkedIn and Twitter. These spaces are more professional, and you’re likely to reach more of your target audience. However, if you are a B2C business, Platforms like Facebook, YouTube and Instagram will do you better.
Your content type will also determine what platform to use. YouTube will be the goal for more video content, while Twitter and LinkedIn can work more for texts. The demographics (age, especially) will go a long way in helping you choose. For an older audience, Facebook will do, but for younger people, Instagram and Snapchat are great options.
Create quality content
Your content determines a whole lot in your social media marketing process. Start by completing your social media profiles/bios. This will help optimize your page, as it is a focal point for every visitor. Use the proper images and background. Your bio should reflect the product/service and benefits you offer.
If you are lost on the kind of content to create. You can check out the pages of your competitors, that is, other businesses in your niche. You can get an idea of the type of content to focus on. Know what works for them and what doesn’t.
Engage with others
It is called “social media” for a reason. You don’t just jump on it and start selling stuff. You should be able to relate and engage with other accounts. Search for accumulators. These influencers or brands already have the bulk of your target audience as loyal followers. This provides you with a free pool of prospects.
Engage with their posts by liking and commenting. And what I mean is to share insightful thoughts in the comment sections. For instance, if an accumulator posts a challenge with a particular thing, especially in your niche, you can respond by providing a subtle solution and connecting it with what your brand offers. This is a great way to draw traffic to your page since their followers will also get to read the comments. When you get comments on your page, you should also reply and connect with them.
Try not to focus only on followership. Begin with engagement. Turn the few followers into die-hard fans. And when you start introducing them to the business side of your brand, they will be more willing to patronize you and refer you to others.
